help your dog to interact

Kirsty currently runs six Dog Socialisation and Training Classes which include Puppy Classes, Adolescent/Junior Classes, Adult Dog Classes and Advanced Dog Training Classes, to help dogs learn how to interact with each other in a controlled environment. These classes are designed to be fun and relaxed, so no need to feel judged or embarrassed, whilst also learning new up to date techniques and training. All classes will be given rosettes, certificates and prizes and clients will be able to ask any questions they have to a Qualified Behaviourist and Certified Trainer and will get further help and guidance where needed.

Puppy classes

Puppy Classes focus on socialisation, building confidence and helping you learn how to develop a good relationship and bond with your puppy. The classes also cover handling skills, building engagement, fun enrichment games, how to help your puppy relax and learning new cues that you will use in your day-to-day life. Puppy classes can also help to prevent behavioural issues occurring in the future. All classes receive rosettes, certificates, extra support where needed and you will develop a better understanding of your puppies needs. Classes are taught in a kind and positive way.

Puppy classes

As well as a qualified Dog Behaviourist and Certified Dog and Puppy Trainer, Kirsty is a Karen Pryor Puppy Pre-school Instructor and has helped thousands of owners and puppies to have a happier life together.

Kirsty has also overseen large puppy blocks when working at rescue centres in the welfare sector, which included nurturing, training, fostering, microchipping and vaccinating stray and abandoned puppies. Kirsty is very experienced in this area.

how will these classes help?

The classes are designed to socialise your dog with other dogs and to get them accustomed to day-to-day distractions. All training is done with positive, up to date modern techniques and Kirsty will cover lots of role play, to help you face daily situations when walking your dog outside. This will help prepare your dog for when you visit new environments, such as a café or pub.

Well behaved children are more than welcome to attend with their parents, as it’s important for children to learn how to understand their dogs and know how to have a positive relationship and feel confident when interacting with them.

Prevention is better than cure, so even if you have no current problems with your puppy, why not start some coaching and training to prevent anything developing further in the future.

Classes cost £43 for a 6-week consecutive course with a rosette and certificate. These classes are extremely popular, and spaces must be pre-booked in advance.

Junior classes

Junior classes are for dogs that have begun to change from a puppy into an adolescent dog. It’s important to remember with this testing and rebellious stage that the dogs brain development is changing as are their hormones. Kirsty will focus on teaching beneficial training within this class and develop skills that will help your dog to avoid conflicts when outside on walks or playing with other dogs when off the lead. Within the class Kirsty will advise on how to help your dog to walk calmly on a lead, prevent over arousal, build a strong recall, introduce enrichment games and learn some fun tricks and low height agility. Kirsty will help you to develop more advanced cues such as ‘leave’ or ‘drop’, and she will also help you to read your own dog’s body language, giving you a better understanding of their emotional state.

These classes come with a rosette, certificate and support where needed and need to be pre-booked as they are extremely popular. If Kirsty feels that your dog is not best suited to a class straight away, she may recommend alternative one to one training to assess your dog’s needs first.

Advanced classes

The advanced classes are for dogs and owners that want to progress further with their training or enjoy giving their dog further enrichment. These classes may also be for dogs that have come up all the way from puppy class, been working with Kirsty on a one-to-one basis or just want to try their dog at something more challenging.
Kirsty will look at the more advanced cues, off lead walking, impulse control, recall with distractions, scent training, agility for fun and training in new scenarios and environments with larger distractions.
